I have been dancing since the age of 2. My love for dance expanded in my teens where I was introduced to Modern dance. I am trained in Horton, Limon, Simonson, and Hawkins Modern Dance techniques. I have been teaching and performing Modern Dance, West African Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap for over 15 years. I am a Certified Simonson Dance Teacher and Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga instructor. My students include children, adults in community centers and seniors with Dementia at a nursing facility in Staten Island. I received a 2012 COAHSI Premier Grant for Modern Dance Choreography and a 2013 Art Fund Grant for Modern Dance. In August 2014 Living Through Movement became a not for profit; it’s vision is to create and bring dance and yoga to everyone. My mission is to create a community for dancers and non dancers to move, feel, express and live with endless possibility through dance and movement.
I have been dancing for over 20 years. I began dancing at South Shore Dance Academy and later trained at Evolution Dance Company under Larissa Schiano. I joined Living Through Movement in 2012 and I am very happy to be part of “Moving Memories”.
I was in a Competition Dance Company by the age of 5 under the direction of my mother, Ann DeVito. This led me to Competitive Gymnastics where I achieved a NY State First Place Floor Championship Title. Today I continue to use my dance and gymnastics background to support the mission of “Living Through Movement”.
I’ve been dancing and singing innately since I was a child. Formal training in dance began Saturday, March 8, 2014 when I joined Living Through Movement. My first performance was Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Clove Lakes Nursing Home. Now all I want is to dance with others and enjoy life.
I love to dance and enjoy the friends I have made. I am very happy to be a part of Living Through Movement.
I started teaching at age 14 in Mullasano Dance Studio in Brooklyn under the Direction of Jon Mullen. I owned and operated Dance Expression along with my partner Joanne Della Regiove. This is my second year in “Living Through Movement”. It is an honor and privilege to work under Larissa Schiano-Gonzalez who has made me remember that the beauty of dance comes from your heart. I must also give a shout out to my 3 beautiful daughters that always lift my spirit through their dancing and a husband that still rocks the “Hustle” on the dance floor.
I always loved to dance, but it took me 58 years to register for a dance class. This June I will be in my 9th Recital. Living Through Movement introduced me to Modern dance and for the past two years it has brought amazing people and great joy into my life.
Dancing makes me feel free. My daughter Larissa, asked me to join this group which I gladly accepted. To be part of “Living Through Movement” opens my love of dance and it opens my heart.
I have been dancing, moving and shaking since the age of 3. I studied under Catherine Greene at Hunter College and joined Living Through Movement in 2012. I am very grateful to be a part of “Moving Memories” and I thank Larissa, her fellow dancers, the Recreation Dept. and the residents of Clove Lakes Rehabilitation Center.
